Whether you received direct support in the past or not, all have benefitted by their help through their building of major schools throughout Israel, underwriting hundreds of important workshops, and working closely with arts teachers all over Israel.
AICF is now creating a way for Israeli artists from all over the world to come together, learn about each other, and promote themselves to those who care about Israeli culture.
As an Israeli artist, think of what a network of thousands of artists could mean in terms of connections, shared resources, and publicity. In Israel and around the world, no one operates alone. Together, through the network of AICF, you can make what you do bigger, better, stronger, and most importantly—well-funded.
Over the past 72 years, the Keren Sharett has directly supported 14,000 artists, and helped build the cultural institutions of Israel. There is no organization better suited to connect artists of all disciplines, and AICF is changing to meet your needs and listening to us.
Here's what you can do to help:
Here are the goals, as stated by AICF's Executive Director in the U.S., David Homan.
"Israeli culture has clear needs, and artists at every stage of their careers need support that is difficult to find. This includes: travel support, grants to allow time to create your work, fellowships, purchases of equipment, and commissions/support of various projects. We know your needs, and AICF plans to help as we develop awareness of AICF and venture into grants to help with career support."
In the end, we will have a vibrant network of thousands of talented artists, and millions of dollars of support when we all work together. If the 14,000 artists AICF supported were each to help raise $500, AICF would have $7 million to spend directly on Israeli culture. With this funding, AICF would be able to help at the stages in your careers where you need help:
For years, AICF has depended on artists like you to judge their next auditions and provide counsel on what the arts in Israel need. This will remain the standard for how AICF provides grants in the future, and your involvement with this network ensures that you will have a voice.
