Neta Pulvermacher was born and raised in Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan, Israel. She graduated from Juilliard in 1985. She founded The Neta Dance Company, formerly, Neta Pulvermacher & Dancers, in 1987 and since then has choreographed over 50 works for her company. She has received choreographic commissions from Ballet Arizona, Ballet New England, Vertigo Dance Company (Israel), The Repertory Project in Ohio, Ballet Wisconsin, the School Ensemble of Dance Theater Of Harlem, the American Dance Festival's Composers/Choreographers project, The Yard, Barnard College Dance Department, the Matt Asher Ensemble (Israel), ASU Dance Department, Desert Dance Theater (Tempe, AZ), Alvin Ailey Summer Program (2002) and most recently the North Carolina School of the Arts, among others. In New York her works and company have been presented at Dance Theater Workshop, Danspace Project, The Joyce Theater, Dancing in the Street, 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Series, The Ohio Theater, The Knitting Factory, Merkin Concert Hall, Symphony Space, The Miller Theater, The Flea Theater and The Kitchen, among others.

Her company has appeared at the Israel Festival, the Krakow Festival, the Bytom International Festival of Modern Dance, the International Festival of the Arts (Costa Rica) and throughout the U.S and Canada.

Pulvermacher has received choreography fellowships from the NEA and NYFA , a special choreography award from Bessie Schönberg and numerous grants.
