Yanai Toister was born in Kibbutz Yizrael. In 2001 he earned his BFA from the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem and in 2006 he earned his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. He was honored with the following awards and prizes: 2000 AICF Sharett Scholarship, 2002 AICF Sharett Scholarship, 2002 First Profile - The Council for the Arts, Israel National Lottery, 2004 AICF Overseas Study Grant, 2006 The Young Artist Award, The Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture. Toister's work has been shown in The Tel-Aviv Museum, The Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Kristinehamns Konstmuseum, Sweden and other venues in Israel, Europe and in the US.
