Miriam Fried, violin; Jonathan Biss, piano
Though only in his 20s, award-winning American pianist Jonathan Biss has already proven himself an accomplished soloist with nearly all of the world's major orchestras. His Kennedy Center appearances include performances with the National Symphony Orchestra as well as Isaac Stern's 80th birthday concert. Noted for his electrifying technique and remarkable versatility, he represents the third generation in a musical family that includes renowned violinist Miriam Fried, his mother. Since 1993, she has been the artistic director of the Ravinia Institute, and her supreme artistry continues to inspire international audiences. Together, they perform an engaging program of sonatas by Bartók and Janácek, book-ended by the second and third sonatas of Johannes Brahms.
